Features of our women's hospital for labor and delivery

We are proud to welcome your family to our beautiful, newly remodeled birthing suites within our dedicated childbirth hospital. Designed with our patients in mind, these rooms are outfitted with everything you could possibly need, including labor tubs, spacious bathrooms and the latest medical technology.

We also offer a variety of low-intervention birthing methods, including comfort positioning devices and nitrous oxide. An anesthesiologist is also on site 24/7 for epidurals and other pain management options.

OB/GYN emergency room

Our OB/GYN ER is staffed by obstetricians and gynecologists 24/7 to provide immediate assessment and intervention to women experiencing an obstetric or gynecologic emergency. This dedicated emergency room is located through the main entrance of TriStar Centennial Women's Hospital.

Level III NICU

For babies who need more medical care after birth, our 60-bed Level III NICU provides around-the-clock care. These extra-special babies will receive care from neonatologists, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists and nurses. The unit also features web-streaming cameras at every bed so parents can see their child even when they are away from the hospital.

Perinatal Care

As part of our comprehensive prenatal services, we help expecting mothers stay healthy by focusing on the prevention and treatment of pregnancy complications. Whether you have preterm labor, gestational or previously diagnosed diabetes, hypertensive disorders or other short- and long-term illnesses, our caregivers work closely to provide the best, safest care possible.

Additionally, our 25-bed High Risk OB unit uses advanced technology and monitoring to promote healthy pregnancies, healthy moms and healthy babies. We are equipped to handle any situation that might occur during a woman's pregnancy, labor or postpartum period.

High-risk pregnancy care

A mother facing a high-risk pregnancy can maintain an individualized birth experience while receiving the special care she and her baby need — all in one facility. Women who are experiencing a health condition that may affect pregnancy will receive special care from preconception counseling, birth planning and beyond.

Our dedicated team of perinatal specialists provides personalized care for high-risk pregnancies and pre-existing conditions that may include:

  • Advanced maternal age (35+)
  • Gestational diabetes mellitus
  • Conditions requiring a Cesarean section (C-section)
  • Multiple gestations (e.g., twins, triplets)
  • Preeclampsia and eclampsia

Advanced infant and maternal services (AIMS)

The perinatal navigators in our AIMS program are committed to creating hope for expectant mothers and their babies by assisting patients with finding prenatal care and providing connections to community resources. These experienced nurses specialize in high-risk pregnancies, helping moms-to-be by:

  • Introducing you to all services provided through our AIMS program
  • Serving as your point of contact for all maternity services provided at our hospital
  • Communicate and work with your referring physician to guide you through your pregnancy
  • Ensure seamless coordination of care for both you and your baby

Our AIMS program includes dedicated nurses as well as a multidisciplinary team to ensure mom and baby receive focused care for their special circumstances. If you have a high-risk pregnancy and are interested in more information, please call (615) 342-6247.

Labor and delivery services

Should you need a C-section, our OB/GYNs and surgical teams are highly-skilled and we provide a unique surgical drape that allows you to have skin-to-skin contact with your newborn immediately after birth. Your baby is passed through an opening in the drape so you don't miss a second of bonding time. The opening is then resealed to maintain a sterile surgical field while the procedure is completed.

Postpartum recovery

Following your baby’s birth, you will have a private room to recover and spend time getting to know your child. We have certified lactation consultants who will visit your room to help you navigate any breastfeeding concerns, both before and after birth.

Breastfeeding and lactation support

Breastfeeding is an experience many women choose and one we encourage. All of our nurses are trained in breastfeeding support and are available to help you initiate breastfeeding immediately after childbirth.

Lactation consultants at A Mother's Place

A Mother's Place is located on the second floor of our hospital. Here, we have certified lactation consultants available for education and support during and after your stay. You have access to breastfeeding classes, consultations, professional nursing bra fittings, information on breast pumps and other services to make breastfeeding more comfortable and successful.

Lactation services we offer before baby arrives:
