Our inpatient rehabilitation services
Our physical therapists provide exceptional care for patients who need rehabilitation services. Whether you've had a severe sprain, joint replacement surgery or a stroke, our doctors and therapists are committed to helping you recover.
Inpatient physical therapy services
While in the hospital, you have the option to complete a multidisciplinary therapy program to aid in your recovery. Our experienced, compassionate rehabilitation team includes:
- Occupational therapists, who focus on the development of cognitive skills and abilities used to complete daily activities
- Physical therapists, who focus on activities associated with mobility and functional improvement
- Rehabilitation nurses, who facilitate treatment and provide education about medications, processes and therapy
- Social workers, who serve as patient liaisons and coordinate the discharge process
- Speech therapists, who treat conditions affecting communication, comprehension, swallowing and thinking
Eligibility for inpatient rehabilitation
Other diagnoses will be considered on a case-by-case basis, but inpatient rehabilitation is typically only offered if you have experienced:
- Amputation
- Brain injury
- Congenital deformity (physical birth defect)
- Fracture or severe sprain
- Multiple traumas (serious injuries resulting from an accident or event, such as a fall or crash)
- Neurological disorders, such as a stroke (cerebrovascular accident)
- Severe or advanced arthritis (must meet additional criteria)
- Severe burns
- Spinal cord injury
- Systemic vasculitides (autoimmune diseases characterized by inflamed blood vessels) with joint inflammation
- Total joint replacement
In addition, patients must:
- Be 18 years old or older
- Be able to follow directions and participate in treatment
- Be free of assistive breathing devices
- Be free of uncontrolled infectious disease
- Be medically stable
- Have an approved referral
- Have an identified discharge plan and support system
- Have the physical stamina and endurance to tolerate a minimum of three hours of therapy daily (at least five days a week)
- Require the treatment of two or more therapies (physical, occupational and/or speech therapy)
- Understand the scope of the rehabilitation program and be willing to participate
