Birth center amenities
Our birth center offers a wide range of amenities to make your stay more comfortable, including:
- Birthing suites — Our oversized LDR suites allow you and a support person to go through the entire birth process in the same room. You are then transferred to a private postpartum suite for the remainder of your stay.
- Birthing tubs — The birthing tub is a popular alternative for women who prefer natural childbirth. Laboring in warm water can feel calming and relieve pain. The large, luxurious tub gives freedom of movement to let mom get into positions that feel comfortable throughout her labor.
- Couplet Care — Couplet Care ensures you and your baby can stay together as much as possible to deepen your bond. During this time, the same nurse cares for you and your baby. You have more time for skin-to-skin contact, and your baby is comforted by the familiar sounds and smells of mom. As a new mom, you get to know your baby’s cues right away. Your nurse can observe your interactions with baby and be there to help with questions about things like breastfeeding.
- Family waiting area — Our labor and delivery area has a family-friendly waiting area just steps from our LDR rooms, postpartum suites and nursery.
- Lullaby button — To celebrate your newborn, we provide a lullaby button to announce the safe arrival of your baby.
- Baby of the Month — Each month we highlight one of our new arrivals on our social media page.
- Wireless fetal/maternal monitoring — Wireless fetal/maternal monitoring is a flexible monitoring solution that does not require repositioning. It provides greater freedom of movement during labor and a more comfortable birthing experience. It also significantly reduces the likelihood of maternal/fetal heart rate confusion and produces consistent, reliable data for patients with a high body mass index (BMI).
- Other amenities — Overnight accommodations for one support person, private postpartum/recovery suites designed to meet your privacy needs and keep you and your baby comfortable and dedicated Cesarean birth (C-section) surgical suites for scheduled and emergency C-sections.
Breastfeeding support
We offer expecting and new moms comprehensive lactation services. Our certified lactation consultants are committed to supporting all your breastfeeding needs.
Immediately following birth, a lactation consultant is available by appointment with you one-on-one to help you select the right breast pump and coach you through your first time breastfeeding.
National Safe Sleep Hospital Certification
TriStar NorthCrest supports safe sleep for infants
Sudden unexpected infant death (SUID, formerly known as SIDS) is a term used to describe the sudden and unforeseen death of a baby younger than 1 year old when the cause is not specifically known. These deaths often happen while the baby is sleeping, and investigation often reveals the baby was not able to breathe properly in their crib or other sleep environment.
The National Safe Sleep Hospital Certification Program recognizes hospitals committed to making babies as safe as possible in their sleep environments and eliminating as many sleep-related deaths as possible.
Safe Sleep Hospital requirements
Certified Safe Sleep Hospitals are required to:
- Develop a safe sleep policy statement incorporating the Infant Safe Sleep guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics.
- Train staff on safe sleep guidelines, the hospital’s safe sleep policy and the importance of modeling safe sleep for parents.
- Educate parents on the importance of safe sleep practices and implement these practices in the hospital setting.
Learning about safe sleep for babies is important for all caregivers, including grandparents, other family members, babysitters, childcare providers and anyone else who might care for babies.
Best practices for safe sleep
As a certified Safe Sleep Hospital, TriStar NorthCrest also shares infant sleep safety best practices and education with the community.
Here are tips to help create a safer sleep environment:
- Follow the ABCs of Safe Sleep
- Alone — baby sleeps alone, without other objects, caregivers or siblings
- Back — baby sleeps on their back
- Crib — baby sleeps on their own sleeping space, such as a crib or bassinet
- Until their first birthday, place your baby on their back to sleep for naps and at night.
- Place your baby to sleep on a firm sleep surface covered by a fitted sheet.
- Room-sharing is recommended — keep baby’s sleep area in the same room where you sleep for at least the first six months, but do not let your baby sleep with you or anyone else in the bed (co-bedding).
- If your baby falls asleep in a car seat, stroller or other carrier, move them to a firm sleep surface such as a crib, bassinet or portable crib.
- Never place your baby to sleep on a couch, sofa or armchair.
- Keep soft objects such as pillows and blankets, toys and bumpers out of your baby’s sleep area.
- If you give your baby a pacifier, use one that is not attached to a string for naps and at night to decrease risk of choking or strangling.
- Breastfeed your baby (studies show babies who breastfeed have a lower risk for SUID).
