NICU
The neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) provides critical care to newborns who are ill or premature. Many factors may lead to a newborn being admitted to the NICU, including low birth weight or complications during delivery. The NICU staff works closely with parents to develop a treatment plan for their newborn.

Our NICU services
Sometimes, babies need a little extra support following childbirth. Our doctors provide nurturing care for these newborns, giving them additional attention in our NICU.
Our Level II NICU
The Special Care Nursery is what we call our Level II NICU. Here, our team of doctors, nurses and neonatologists provides comprehensive care for babies born at or after 28 weeks of gestation. If more advanced care is needed, your little one will have access to other neonatal services through our family of TriStar Health hospitals.
NICU safety
Along with your baby's health, we make their safety one of our top priorities. This is why our Special Care Nursery is a secured, locked unit. Each newborn in our care wears a special security band that allows our NICU team to keep track of their location at all times. If they near an exit, alarms will trigger and doors will automatically lock.
Highly trained neonatal staff
Our NICU is staffed with board-certified neonatologists (doctors with specialty training in caring for newborns). They are also supported by nurse practitioners who have undergone additional training in caring for low- and high-risk newborns.
Visiting the Special Care Nursery
When visiting the Special Care Nursery, we ask that you take into consideration the well-being of all babies in our NICU. If you are exhibiting flu or cold symptoms, please wait to visit.
We also ask that all visitors are diligent about hand-washing. Protecting the health of newborns in our care is one of our top priorities, and it is important to be respectful of their underdeveloped immune systems.
NICU virtual visiting
When you have a newborn who requires additional care, NICU visitation can become a big time commitment for you and your family. If there are times when you are unable to be by your newborn's side, do not worry. We have technology in our Special Care Nursery that allows you to digitally view your child 24/7.
