Visitor policy
- L&D may also have a contractual doula during labor only.
- Parking is available in the C Garage (entrance on Murphy Avenue). Take the elevator to the ground floor and enter the Women's and Children's front hospital entrance, 2221 Murphy Avenue.
Circumstances may allow for specific exceptions to any visitation restrictions described on this webpage. Those circumstances include religious visitation as well as a designated support person for a patient with a disability to provide assistance with communication or other necessary components of the patient's treatment. All persons entering under an exception remain subject to appropriate infection control protocols.

This information is designed to answer some of the most frequently asked questions of our visitors.
Tobacco-free policy
The use of tobacco products is not permitted inside or outside the hospital or in hospital-owned buildings.
Visitor guidelines
Visiting guidelines are in place to protect each patient's privacy and provide a restful, healing environment while allowing patients the comfort of welcomed visitors.
- Visiting hours are 9:00am to 9:00pm, except for parents, grandparents and legal guardians.
- Parents/guardians are strongly encouraged to remain with their child at all times; however, siblings are not allowed to stay overnight.
- Visitation is subject to parents' discretion.
- Children under 12 years old must have an adult with them at all times.
- Only up to five people may visit at a time.
- Upon entering and exiting a room, please use the hand sanitizing stations located on the wall.
- Upon admission to the unit, you will be asked to complete a visitor's list. Each visitor will be required to sign in and present picture identification upon entering the unit.
The nurse responsible for each patient's care reserves the right to limit visitation based on the patient's needs and other patients in the unit. Visitors who are not compliant with rules, are loud or disruptive or disturb the privacy of others will be asked to leave.
Patients have the absolute right to limit or decline visitors.
Any individual, child or adult with symptoms of or exposure to a contagious illness or infection should not visit hospital patients. Symptoms may include coughing, sneezing, runny nose, fever, rash, diarrhea or vomiting within the past 24 hours.
Visitors need to check with a nurse before bringing patients food, beverages, medications, or electrical appliances.
Pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) visiting guidelines
Along with to the guidelines listed above, the PICU observes additional guidelines:
- Parents or grandparents (at parent's discretion) and legal guardians have open visitation. They may stay with their child 24 hours a day.
- One adult is allowed to sleep in the patient's room overnight.
- Visitation hours are 9:00am to 9:00pm, except for the shift change from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Visitation is subject to parents' discretion.
- Two to three visitors (including parents) are allowed in the patient room at any given time.
- Siblings are allowed to visit; however, we encourage parents of siblings under 14 years old to consult with the child life specialist before visiting.
- Parents take full responsibility for siblings visiting the PICU.
- Any child who is not a sibling must be at least 13 years old to visit.
- All visitors must be free of signs and symptoms of illness.
- Every visitor must follow proper hand hygiene procedures.
- Visitors are asked to refrain from the use of cellular phones while visiting.
- Visiting may be temporarily limited at the discretion of medical staff to tend to emergencies or perform necessary procedures.
Amenities
We have many things in place to help make your visit more comfortable and convenient. You can benefit from:
- The gift shop, located on the first floor of TriStar Centennial Children's Hospital and the tower's second floor.
- An ATM located on the first floor of TriStar Centennial Children's Hospital and the tower's second floor.
- A menu book with phone numbers for area restaurants. Ask your nurse if you would like to see it.
- The TriStar Centennial Children's Hospital cafeteria, located on the second floor. It is open for breakfast (7:00am to 9:30am) and lunch (11:00am to 1:30pm) Monday through Friday. The tower cafeteria is located on the second floor. It is open seven days per week for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 7:00am to 8:00pm. The tower cafeteria also has a Subway and Dairy Queen, which remain open until midnight.
- Complimentary Wi-Fi access available for patients and visitors.
Chapel
A chapel is a quiet place for reflection, prayer and meditation. It is open 24/7 and located on the first floor of TriStar Centennial Tower. To reach a chaplain, please call (615) 342-3911.
