Our gastroenterology services

Our gastroenterologists — sometimes called "gut health doctors" — are sensitive to your needs and are committed to providing compassionate care.

Comprehensive GI care

Our gut health doctors are experts in treating conditions that affect the digestive system. The digestive system is a network of organs that includes the esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, small intestine, large intestine and anus. Some digestive health conditions require collaboration among a team of specialists, such as surgeons, oncologists and nephrologists. No matter what type of treatment you require, our providers are committed to coming together to provide you with a full range of gastric health services tailored to your personal needs.

Advanced treatment for Barrett's esophagus

You probably have experienced heartburn at some point in your life. Much of the time, this condition goes away on its own, but some people experience chronic heartburn. This may be a condition called acid reflux or, in severe cases, GERD.

GERD can cause a potentially serious condition in which the esophageal lining transforms to something like the lining in your intestines. This condition is known as Barrett’s esophagus, and it can increase your risk of esophageal cancer.

Risk factors for Barrett's esophagus include:

  • Age: people older than 50 are at increased risk
  • Being a current or past smoker
  • Being male
  • Being white
  • Excessive abdominal fat
  • Family history of Barrett’s esophagus or esophageal cancer

Our GI specialists use innovative techniques to treat Barrett’s esophagus, such as radiofrequency ablation (RFA). This procedure destroys damaged cells with heat while sparing surrounding tissue. If you require treatment for Barrett's esophagus, your physician will discuss risk factors and work with you to create a treatment plan based on your personal health needs.
