Neurological care
Neurological care is the practice of medicine that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and function of diseases relating to the nerves and nervous system. Neurologists and neurosurgeons treat disorders that affect the brain or spinal cord.

Types of neurological treatments we provide
Once a diagnosis is determined, our neurology specialists create a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.
Brain aneurysm treatment
A brain aneurysm is a balloon-like bulge in the wall of a brain artery that is weak or abnormal. If it tears and bleeds, it may damage nearby cells. Risk factors for a brain aneurysm include high blood pressure, heredity or head injury.
One treatment we offer for brain aneurysms is endovascular coiling. This is done in an X-ray lab by a specially trained doctor (interventional neuroradiologist) and is used to block blood flow into an aneurysm.
Epilepsy treatment
We offer complete care for epilepsy and seizure disorders. Epilepsy is a neurological disorder characterized by abnormal brain activity causing seizures. We may use various imaging and monitoring techniques to diagnose epilepsy. Symptoms of epilepsy can include:
- Confusion
- Dementia
- Disorientation
- Loss of consciousness
- Memory loss
- Ticks and tremors
The doctors in our epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU) evaluate, diagnose and treat seizures in patients of all ages. Our board-certified epileptologists and neurologists work with you to determine the appropriate treatment to control seizures and manage symptoms. You will also be admitted to the EMU if considered for seizure surgery.
Advanced neurological treatments
We also offer advanced treatment options for patients whose conditions may be resistant to standard methods. These include:
- Deep brain stimulation is a minimally invasive, reversible technique helping patients with movement disorders, psychiatric disorders, seizures, and certain types of chronic pain.
- Intrathecal baclofen therapy delivers a medication (baclofen) directly to the space where fluid flows around the spinal cord using a pump. This decreases spasticity without the possible side effects of oral medications.
