Loving our patients back to health

It was just after the 2022 Thanksgiving holiday when Alyse found herself at the TriStar Greenview emergency room with heart attack symptoms. Alyse also suffered from drug addiction, and, at the time, was an active user.

“I felt worthless and ashamed, and I just wanted to numb the pain,” explained Alyse. She was admitted for care, and it was during her stay at TriStar Greenview she met Nurse Remy who changed her life. “She just kept assuring me that I was beautiful, I was important, and that I’ve got this,” says Alyse.

Remy Sexton, a nurse at Tristar Greenview Regional Hospital, is no stranger to Tristar Greenview patients. Remi exemplifies our mission, “above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.” She touches many lives for the better each and every day because of her true compassionate care for her patients.

Remy left her home in the Philippines in 2000 and has been away from her family since that time. “I have been away from home for so, so long, and over the years, I have just adopted everyone, my colleagues and my patients, as family,” says Remy. Remy’s humble, encouraging spirit is a healing balm for the patients she serves. The lives of patients like Alyse have been changed for the better because of her kindness and compassionate care. “Being so far away from home, I am not able to physically be there for my family, but I hope that someone would show the same love, care and kindness if one of my family members were in need.”

Fast forward to almost a year later, and Alyse is now part of a drug rehab program, has been sober for over five months, and is thriving. She attributes much of her success and inspiration to change to her experience with Remy. “She loved me back to health,” says Alyse. “I am beautiful, I am important, and I’ve got this.”
