Acceptance commitment therapy (ACT)
ACT helps you to accept that painful feelings are appropriate responses to certain situations, but that these emotions shouldn't keep you from moving on and moving forward in your life. This form of therapy can grant relief from obsessive thoughts, depression, anxiety and substance abuse.
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
CBT is related to ACT. In CBT, you work with a mental health professional to become aware of inaccurate or negative thinking patterns and address them in order to develop new methods of dealing with difficult times. It can help with depression, anxiety, substance abuse and bipolar disorders.
Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT)
ECT is a highly effective medical treatment. It is typically used to treat severe conditions that have not responded to any other form of treatment. These conditions include major depressive disorder, severe bipolar disorder, catatonia and sometimes schizophrenia.
During ECT, small electrical currents are passed through the brain using electrodes. The procedure is performed under anesthesia with the supervision of a team of trained medical professionals that includes a psychiatrist, an anesthesiologist and a nurse or physician's assistant.
Music therapy
Music therapy is a form of therapy that encourages self-expression, and it works to reduce stress and improve your mood. Sessions may include you listening to music, singing, playing instruments or even composing music, but you don't need to be a musician to participate. Music therapy is used to treat anxiety, Alzheimer's disease, depression and substance abuse.

Recreation therapy, also known as therapeutic recreation, is a highly individualized mental health service that uses specific activities like art and crafts, sports, physical activity or play to help you reduce depression, stress and anxiety and help you build confidence. Recreational therapy takes your specific needs and goals into account and keeps them in mind throughout your treatment.
