Orthopedic services

Many other factors set us apart for orthopedic care. We offer:

Diagnostic testing

Our orthopedic doctors also use advanced tools and technologies to refine your diagnosis and create a treatment plan tailored to your needs. An diagnosis typically starts with a physical exam, which includes testing your back, joints and limbs for strength, flexibility, sensation and reflexes.

After a physical exam, your physician may use diagnostic imaging procedures, such as ultrasounds, X-rays, computerized tomography (CT) scans and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans, as a way to take a deeper look at what is causing your pain or injury.

Additional bone and joint tests we perform

To better diagnose or understand your condition, we may also use:

  • Arthroscopy — During this minor surgical procedure, a thin, lighted tube (arthroscope) is used to examine an orthopedic issue.
  • Bone density testing — We offer dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scans, a special type of X-ray, to determine your bone mass and risk of osteoporosis.
  • Electromyograms (EMGs) — Tiny currents are used to stimulate muscles. When the nerves connecting to muscles are damaged, the muscles give off abnormal signals.

Orthopedic surgery

Orthopedic surgeons may recommend surgical care for bone and joint conditions that do not respond to other treatments. If this happens, you will also meet with a physical therapist to discuss postoperative rehabilitation and complete additional tests.

As part of our commitment to patient safety and staying on the forefront of technology, we perform minimally invasive procedures, including robotic surgery, whenever possible.

Arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgery

An arthroscope is more than a diagnostic tool. Your orthopedic surgeon may also perform a minimally invasive arthroscopic procedure to repair a damaged bone, muscle or joint. Arthroscopic knee surgery, for example, can be used to repair a torn meniscus (trauma caused by the knee joint twisting). Similarly, arthroscopic shoulder surgery can be used to treat arthritis or rotator cuff tears.

Joint replacement surgery

If you have chronic joint pain, joint replacement could be an option for you. During a joint replacement, an orthopedic surgeon removes parts of a damaged or arthritic joint and replaces those parts with a prosthesis (artificial joint).

Total and partial joint replacement procedures performed at our hospitals include:

  • Hip replacement
  • Knee replacement
  • Shoulder replacement

Spine, back and neck care

Our patients receive specialized spine care for issues causing back or neck pain. Interventional spine treatments include steroid injections and minimally invasive orthopedic surgery.

Sports medicine

We are well-equipped to treat orthopedic conditions often related to athletics or active lifestyles. Our sports medicine specialists treat injuries and conditions such as:

  • Fractures and sprains
  • Knee ligament tears or strains
  • Pulled muscles
  • Rotator cuff tears
  • Shin splints

Physical therapy and rehabilitation

Dedicated physical therapists will help you reach your goals after orthopedic surgery. You may also benefit from physical therapy to manage pain or to treat injuries or conditions that do not require surgery. Either way, we tailor rehabilitation to your unique needs, ensuring our inpatient and outpatient physical therapy and rehabilitation services help you regain maximum mobility and return to an active lifestyle.
