At Horizon, our care doesn't stop at the hospital doors.

Sarah, her husband, and their nearly 2-year-old son were on their way home when they struck a deer. The impact was significant - all airbags deployed - and the family was understandably shaken.

That’s when Rachel stopped.

Instead of driving by, Rachel immediately sprang into action. As an ER nurse at TriStar Horizon, she’s known for her calm presence and compassionate care - and Sarah says that same care showed up exactly when her family needed it most.

“She held my son while she called 911 and comforted us,” Sarah shared. “I don’t know what we would have done without her. She’s an angel.”

Sarah and her family later came to Horizon’s ER to be checked out and were treated and released. Wanting to thank the nurse who helped them at the accident scene, Sarah shared her story on social media - leading to a reunion we were honored to capture.

We are incredibly grateful that Sarah and her family are safe. And we are grateful that Rachel is part of the Horizon family. She represents the very best of who we are - committed to serving our community, in every situation.
