Minimally invasive surgery

If you suffer from knee or hip pain, our surgeons will pursue the least invasive path for treatment and to avoid cutting through muscles and tendons. The benefits of minimally invasive surgery may include smaller incisions, less tissue trauma, shorter hospital stays, minimal scarring and faster recovery for you or your loved one.

Help for joint pain

Joint pain may arise from cartilage damage. This may be from injury, normal wear and tear or arthritis in the joint. As a result, the joint becomes less mobile and painful to use. If more conservative methods such as physical therapy are not successful, surgery may be required.

Total joint replacement

If your treatment plan involves joint replacement surgery, the first goal is to relieve your pain. Other objectives may include regaining function, correcting abnormality or preventing further damage. The goal of joint replacement surgery is to provide a pain-free hip or knee that will last as long as possible. In fact, the majority of knee and hip replacements performed should last 15 years or more.

Knee replacement surgery

During total knee replacement surgery, an artificial joint is used to replace the diseased joint. The artificial joint is anchored into place with bone cement, or, in some applications, covered with material that allows bone tissue to grow into it.

Hip replacement surgery

When you undergo hip replacement surgery, your surgeon replaces the head of the thigh bone and hip socket with an artificial ball and stem. The ball and stem are made of a strong metal or ceramic, and the artificial socket is made of polyethylene or metal-backed with a plastic liner. The artificial joint may be cemented in position or held securely in the bone.
