Cardiac rehabilitation
Cardiac rehabilitation aims to help you recover from a cardiovascular event — such as a heart attack or heart failure — or other debilitating heart condition. This recovery process usually involves physical therapy, exercise and education to rebuild and maintain your heart strength.

Inpatient cardiac rehabilitation
Inpatient cardiac rehabilitation begins while you are still in the hospital. Our cardiac rehabilitation therapists will meet you to assess your needs for a recovery program and will begin working with you to improve strength, mobility and endurance. We will also coordinate with your physician to develop an individualized recovery plan before you leave the hospital.
Outpatient cardiac rehabilitation
Outpatient cardiac rehabilitation begins after you leave the hospital. Sessions are typically one-hour long, three times per week for approximately 12 weeks. Each session combines exercise and education in a supportive environment.
The three phases of cardiac rehab
A physician referral is required for both inpatient and outpatient cardiac rehabilitation programs. Referrals can be acquired by having your physician contact us directly.
Our cardiac rehabilitation program is broken down into three phases. Each of the three phases is designed to help you in various stages of recovery.
Phase one
Phase one occurs while patients are still hospitalized. From the time of the event until discharge, you work through your recovery program to help improve physical strength. Activities may include assisted walking, stationary biking and range of motion exercises to increase endurance and mobility.
Phase two
Phase two is conducted on an outpatient basis, and is designed to help you continue a safe exercise program while increasing self-confidence. A multidisciplinary team helps you develop healthy living habits.
Phase three
Phase three aims to help you maintain your healthy lifestyle after completing phases one and two. You are encouraged to continue exercising and develop healthier habits in a less structured environment.
