We offer specialized epilepsy monitoring units (EMUs) to evaluate, diagnose and treat seizures in patients of all ages.

Diagnostic tests for epilepsy

If you're at risk of epilepsy or are experiencing symptoms, your neurologist may recommend imaging tests. To diagnose a seizure disorder, you may need:

  • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans
  • Computed tomography (CT) scans
  • Audio/video electroencephalogram (EEG) monitoring

Neurological care in our epilepsy monitoring units

We offer specialized epilepsy monitoring units (EMUs) to evaluate, diagnose and treat seizures in patients of all ages. The EMUs are designed for 24/7 audio and video monitoring to identify where seizures begin in the brain.

Patients who suffer from seizures are likely to be admitted to an EMU. If you are being considered for seizure surgery, you will also be admitted to an EMU. On average, patients are monitored for three to five days.

Epilepsy is associated with several neurological side effects, such as irritability, clumsiness and changes in emotions, memory or behavior, and learning.
