Compassion that comes full circle
April Lane is no stranger to healthcare. She has spent her life caring for others as a patient care technician for 30 years. Recently, that perspective shifted when she became the patient.
After experiencing severe abdominal pain, April turned to the team at TriStar Lovers Lane ER. Extensive testing revealed a flare-up of diverticulitis, and she was admitted to TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital for further evaluation and a higher level of care.
It was there she met Dr. Rachel Bryant, a general surgeon, who would guide her care.
“Caring for April has been especially meaningful because she understands healthcare from both sides. Our goal is not only to treat her condition but to support her every step of the way so she can get back to doing what she loves,” Dr. Bryant shared.
April said her experience has deepened her appreciation for the care she and others receive. “The level of compassion and respect the care team has shown, not only to me but to each other, is amazing,” she shared.
Now, April is focused on next steps, including antibiotics, a colonoscopy and the possibility of surgery. Through it all, she remains confident in her care.
“We always choose TriStar Greenview, and we always will,” she said. “This has been our home hospital for years, through every health battle, including my stroke. We’re always treated with the utmost respect. Everyone is so polite, no ask is too big, and everything we need is provided quickly.”
For April, this experience reinforces what she has known throughout her career: compassionate care doesn’t just treat conditions — it changes lives.
At TriStar Greenview, that’s exactly what we strive to do every day — improve lives, inspire change and live out our mission: Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.
