Imaging services we offer
When you need diagnostic tests in Cheatham County, you can count on our medical imaging center to provide the tests you need. We know an accurate diagnosis is essential to treating medical conditions effectively.
X-rays
An X-ray uses radiation to capture images inside your body. They can be used to detect and diagnose several different conditions, including broken bones, dislocated joints and lung infections. Your doctor may give you a contrast agent to identify the issue more clearly. During an X-ray, you may also be asked to wear a protective garment, such as a lead apron, to protect against radiation exposure.
Computerized tomography (CT) scan
A CT scan is a series of X-rays taken from different angles to form a 3D picture of an area of your body. CT images give doctors more detailed information than regular X-rays and are often used to check for internal injuries. They can also be used to look at the brain and blood vessels.
Some CT scans require a contrast agent to highlight certain areas of your body. Typically, contrast is used when viewing blood vessels and other organs.
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
An MRI is a painless, non-invasive way to look inside your body. Instead of using X-rays, MRI uses magnetic fields and radio waves to view the internal organs and tissues. The high-resolution images allow physicians to gain important information about your brain, spine, joints and internal organs. MRIs also lead to earlier detection of abnormalities and have no known side effects.
Ultrasonography
Ultrasonography, also known as an ultrasound, uses sound waves to produce pictures of structures within your body. While it is commonly used to examine a fetus in utero, ultrasounds can also be used to evaluate and diagnose many different conditions, such as gallbladder disease, blockages in arteries and muscle tears.
We offer general, cardiac (2D echo), vascular and 3D ultrasound imaging. Ultrasound is a safe procedure with no known risks because the images are captured using low-power sound waves.
