Birthing center amenities
Along with virtual visitation and in-room dining, our birthing center offers a wide range of amenities to make your stay more comfortable, including:
- Birthing suites — Our oversized labor, delivery and recovery (LDR) suites allow you and a support person to go through the entire birth process in the same room. You are then transferred to a private postpartum suite for the remainder of your stay.
- Birthing tubs— The Birthing Tub is a popular alternative for women who prefer natural childbirth. Laboring in warm water can feel calming and relieve pain. The large, luxurious tub gives freedom of movement to let mom get into positions that feel comfortable throughout her labor.
- Couplet Care — Couplet Care ensures you and your baby are able to stay together as much as possible to help deepen your bond. During this time the same nurse will care for you and your baby. You have more time for skin-to-skin contact, and your baby is comforted by the familiar sounds and smells of mom. As a new mom, you get to know your baby’s cues right away. Your nurse can observe your interactions with baby and be there to help with questions about things like breast-feeding. Because the nurse is well-informed about the progress of both mother and baby, he or she is the ideal liaison for communication with the obstetric and pediatric teams.
- Family waiting area — Our labor and delivery area has a family-friendly waiting area just steps from our LDR rooms, postpartum suites and nursery.
- Lullaby button — To celebrate your newborn, we provide a lullaby button you may push to announce the safe arrival of your baby.
- Pain management — We offer nitrous oxide gas as an alternative to traditional pain medication for labor. Some women choose this instead of (or in addition to) an epidural. To further customize the birthing experience, mothers can self-administer the nitrous oxide through an on-demand flow delivery system, which is available in all stages of labor.
- Professional newborn photos — If desired, the hospital provides a professional photographer who can take pictures of your newborn during the postpartum period of your stay. Digital photos are made available through a secure internet location in our center, which lets parents share photos of their newborns with friends and family around the world.
- Wireless fetal/maternal monitoring — Wireless fetal/maternal monitoring is a flexible monitoring solution that does not require repositioning. It provides greater freedom of movement during labor and a more comfortable birthing experience. It also significantly reduces the likelihood of maternal/fetal heart rate confusion and produces consistent, reliable data for patients with a high body mass index (BMI).
- Other amenities— Overnight accommodations for one support person, private postpartum/recovery suites designed to meet your privacy needs and keep you and your baby comfortable and dedicated Cesarean birth (C-section) surgical suites for scheduled and emergency C-sections.
Additionally, we are staffed 24/7 with in-house OB Laborists and board-certified OB/GYNs who are available to provide care to admitted patients and those arriving in labor and delivery.

Childbirth classes
Our Pregnancy Journey series focuses on different stages of your pregnancy to help you and your family prepare for your little one's arrival. They cover topics such as what to expect at doctors' appointments, signs of labor, pain management and newborn care. The series is broken into three parts:
- Pregnancy series 1: 20-27 weeks pregnant
- Pregnancy series 2: 28-33 weeks pregnant
- Pregnancy series 3: 34+ weeks pregnant
Obstetric and gynecological (OB/GYN) emergency room (ER)
Each pregnancy has its challenges, but our dedicated obstetrics ER is specially equipped to deal with any serious issues that may occur before, during or after your labor. Should you need emergency care for an obstetrics-related condition, our women's care team and emergency physicians will be immediately available to provide prompt, effective treatment. We have emergency beds on the obstetrics floor, ensuring we can provide care as soon as possible. The emergency room offers 24/7 access to board-certified OB/GYNs if emergency care is needed during your pregnancy.
NICU
Our Level II NICU monitors your newborn 24/7 and is staffed with neonatal nursing care and specialists. We use web cameras so you can view your baby through password-protected streaming. Also, you can share streaming with family members unable to come to the facility.
